Register by clicking on the REGISTER button at the top of each Sardine Photos page.
You will be asked to select a user name and password and provide some additional information, including your email address.
Enter the required information.
Once all the information
has been entered, click the SEND ME THE ACTIVATION KEY button. This will be
sent to you within 24 hours.
You will be asked to LOGIN before using the site. Click on the USER LOGIN button.
Enter your user name, activation key number and password and begin!
Q. Do I need to register and login before I can search?
You may search the library when you visit, however before accessing it, you must register and login. Registering is free and easy and it allows you to have complete access to our growing and selective collection of images.
Q. What kinds of searches can I do?
Once you LOGIN you can perform
two different types of searches:
Basic Search, which is done by entering a Keyword and Advanced Search,
which enables you to search for a story,
within a category or by country or the name of the photographer.
Q. What if I can't find the image that I am looking for?
If you have searched the site and are unable to find the image that you are looking for,
please email us at sardinephotos@wanadoo.fr. We will be able to assist you in your search
or we may have what you are looking for in our off-line library.
Q. What is a Light Box?
A Light Box is a file that saves your selected images. You can add images to a Light Box, remove them, and download the whole content of the Light Box to your computer for later use or to share with someone else.Light Boxes are designed to help you keep track of images you would like to use in your projects. When you find an image in the library that is of interest to you, you can save it into one of your Light Boxes and continue searching.
Q. How do I use my Light Box?
Save your favorite images from a search by creating a Light Box.
The images in your Light Box become your personal collection at SARDINE PHOTOS. It is easy to add,
delete, read details and magnify images while viewing your Light Box. You can create as many Light Boxes as you need.
Saving images in your Light Box saves you time on your return visit. A Light Box allows you to view a pre-selected group of images and show them to a co-worker, editor or art director. Your Light Box saves everyone time. You can return to your Light Boxes by clicking on The Light Box button at the bottom of the screen.
Q. What does it mean to "license" an image?
When you license an image you purchase access to SARDINE PHOTOS’ high-quality imagery for a specific use.
Q. How much will it cost me to license an image?
The licensing fee is calculated using a pricing matrix. Your licensing fee will be based on a combination of the Usage Type (ex. Corporate: Annual Reports), Quantity (ex. 50,000-100,000), and Size (ex. 1/2 page). At the time you order an image, you will be asked to enter information that will determine your licensing fee.
Q. What if the licensing specifications listed in the pricing matrix do not meet my requirements?

Purchase one or several images by following the steps below:
Step 1: Light Box
Collect the images you want to purchase in your Light Box. When you have a final selection of images in your Light Box, click on the ORDER IMAGES link. A page with your selected images, captions, photographer’s name and image availability will load.
Step 2: Calculate Licensing Fees
Calculate the licensing fees by selecting the usage type (ex. Corporate: Annual Reports), quantity (ex. 50,000-100,000) and size (ex. 1/2 page) of each image you want to purchase. A price will be automatically calculated.

Step 3: Purchase
Once each image has been priced, click on the SUBMIT button. An email confirmation will be sent to you regarding your purchase.
Step 4: Receiving Your Image(s)
Once your order has been confirmed, your images can be delivered to you in a variety of ways. You will be prompted to choose the method that meets your personal needs.
You can:
* Have the image emailed to you as an attachment.
* Download a 18-MB image directly.
* Receive your image(s) on a cd-rom or transparency by post.This method is recommended
for heavier files.
Step 5: Billing
Your account will be billed automatically by email and post; Payment is due within 30 days of reception of the invoice
Q. When do I download an image?
Once we have received and approved your order.
Q. How do I Download an image?
1. Proceed to your download area then click and hold on the image.
2. Select the Save Image As... option from the pull-down menu that appears.
3. Choose the destination file where you want to save the image.
4. Click Save and the image will begin to download to the chosen location.
Q. How large can I print your images?
In general our images can safely be enlarged to 125% of their original image size without affecting the quality. However, how large you can print a digital image will vary greatly on how you are outputting it, what your target resolution is and what kind of hardware you are outputting it with. The composition, sharpness and amount of detail in the image itself will also affect your output size. For more information you should consult directly with your printer or service bureau to find out the specific capabilities of the device you're working with. Remember all of our images are also availiable in 40 MB files. These can be sent to you by freight or by mail. Most of the images in the SARDINE PHOTOS library are scanned from slides or negatives.Transparencies are also available when deemed required.
Q. How do you protect the privacy of the information I submit to you?
We do not share your personal information outside SARDINE PHOTOS. We do not sell or share email addresses with companies outside SARDINE PHOTOS. For a complete overview of how we protect your information, read our privacy policy.

Save images in a Light Box and create a private collection that only you, and those you invite, have access to. Create a Light Box by clicking on the CREATE LIGHT BOX at the bottom of the page. Once you add an image, your Light Box is activated.
You can create as many Light Boxes as you need. In addition, your Light Boxes will be saved for you until you delete them.
To delete a Light Box, click on the DELETE LIGHT BOX link at the bottom of the Light Box you want to delete. This will NOT delete other Light Box you have created.
